Cantante, chitarrista, performer e videomaker statunitense, Carla Bozulich è nata a New York City nel 1965. Fin da giovane partecipa attivamente alla vita musicale newyorchese, suonando in svariati gruppi come The Neon Veins e The Invisible Chains. Nel 1986 è tra i fondatori del gruppo Ethyl Meatplow, provocatorio mix dal sapore industrial. Nel 1993, ormai sciolto il precedente progetto, fonda The Geraldine Fibbers con cui realizza due album, il secondo, Butch, con il contributo creativo di Nels Cline. La nuova band incide con la Virgin Records, ottenendo discreti successi di critica. Carla realizza anche il video del singolo, California Tuffy, prima esperienza da videomaker che la condurrà a presentare il suo ultimo lavoro By Hook Or By Crook alle selezioni ufficiali del Sundance Festival. In seguito Carla e Nels Cline creano Scarnella, un progetto aperto, sperimentale e spesso solo strumentale, realizzando prima un omaggio a James Brown per Zero Hour e poi un album per la Smells Like Record.
Carla Bozulich nel 2006 pubblica l’album Evangelista su Constellation Records, collettivo/etichetta di culto di Montreal. Nel 2007 ha dato nome al progetto su Constellation e alla band (aperta e in progress) che la accompagnava dal vivo, scegliendo proprio il titolo di quel primo album, Evangelista. Da quel momento Tara Barnes (basso) e Dominic Cramp (keyboards) sono entrati in pianta stabile nel gruppo. Evangelista ha poi licenziato “Hello, Voyager” nel 2008 e “Prince Of Truth” nel 2009. Questi lavori sono valsi alla Bozulich copertine di riviste specializzate (The Wire, Blow Up) e l’acclamazione unanime di critica e pubblico. Le registrazioni e i numerosi tour (americani ed europei) con Evangelista non hanno impedito a Carla Bozulich di portare avanti numerose collaborazioni (Nels Cline, Lydia Lunch, Thurston Moore, Mike Watt, Willie Nelson, Christian Marclay, Wilco, ecc.) e di esibirsi in progetti di sound installation (presso la Schindler’s House e il Getty Museum).
Ha partecipato al Lollapalooza e per due volte è stata invitata all’ATP (All Tomorrows Parties). Nel 2005, accompagnata dalla London Sinfonietta, ha interpretato “The Ballad of the Lily of Hell” (Brecht/Weill) al Meltdown Festival di Londra, curato quell’anno da Patti Smith. Nell’agosto del 2009 Carla ha suonato al fianco di Marianne Faithfull e Marc Ribot all’interno della Ruhrtriennale a Dusseldorf.
I suoi live sono esperienze indimenticabili e dall’alto tasso emotivo in cui si rompono i confini tra artista e pubblico in nome di un irresistibile moto di trasformazione interiore.

Evangelista has been the protagonist of numerous American and European tours. In August 2009, Carla played with Marianna Faithfull and Marc Robot at Ruhrtriennale 2009 in Dusseldorf.
